Complexity cube for the characterization of complex production systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
Due to the increasing complexity of today’s logistic systems, new planning and control methods are necessary. Autonomously controlled processes are a possible solution to cope with these new requirements. In order to verify this thesis, the development of an evaluation system is necessary which measures the logistic objective achievement, the level of autonomous control and the level of complexity. Within this paper an adequate operationalisation of complexity in production systems is aspired. For this purpose a complexity cube is derived in order to characterize production systems regarding their level of complexity. The different types of complexity in this cube are represented by vectors which allow measurement and comparison of different types of complexity for different production systems. The application of the complexity cube is illustrated using an exemplary job shop manufacturing scenario.

متن کاملExtension of Cube Attack with Probabilistic Equations and its Application on Cryptanalysis of KATAN Cipher
Cube Attack is a successful case of Algebraic Attack. Cube Attack consists of two phases, linear equation extraction and solving the extracted equation system. Due to the high complexity of equation extraction phase in finding linear equations, we can extract nonlinear ones that could be approximated to linear equations with high probability. The probabilistic equations could be considered as l...
متن کاملConnections, Communication and Collaboration in Healthcare’s Complex Adaptive Systems; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”
A more sophisticated understanding of the unpredictable, disorderly and unstable aspects of healthcare organisations is developing in the knowledge translation (KT) literature. In an article published in this journal, Kitson et al introduced a new model for KT in healthcare based on complexity theory. The Knowledge Translation Complexity Network Model (KTCNM) provides a fresh perspective by mak...
متن کاملRock physics characterization of shale reservoirs: a case study
Unconventional resources are typically very complex to model, and the production from this type of reservoirs is influenced by such complexity in their microstructure. This microstructure complexity is normally reflected in their geophysical response, and makes them more difficult to interpret. Rock physics play an important role to resolve such complexity by integrating different subsurface di...
متن کاملThe Paradox of Intervening in Complex Adaptive Systems; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”
This commentary addresses two points raised by Kitson and colleagues’ article. First, increasing interest in applying the Complexity Theory lens in healthcare needs further systematic work to create some commonality between concepts used. Second, our need to adopt a better understanding of how these systems organise so we can change the systems overall behaviour, creates a paradox. We seek to m...
